Paster Carter      

Rev. Jerry M. Carter, Jr. hails from Columbus, Ohio, and has served since 1990 as the fourteenth pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church of Morristown, New Jersey. During his tenure there, numerous ministries have been initiated, and many lives have been changed and committed to Christ.

Rev. Carter’s impact has reached far beyond Calvary as he has served on various community and clergy boards in the Morristown area. Of particular note have been his appointment as an Adjunct Instructor at Princeton Seminary’s Summer Institute program, and his assignment as a Teaching Assistant at Drew Theological School in the areas of homiletics and worship.  He is also the founder of “How Shall They Hear” Preaching Conference.
 
Rev. Carter received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies from Denison University in Granville, Ohio, and completed the Master of Divinity degree from the Princeton Theological Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey in the spring of 1990. While at Princeton, Rev. Carter was recipient of the Expository Preaching Prize. Continuing his education, he earned the Ph.D. degree in October, 2007 from Drew University, focusing on liturgical studies and homiletics.

Rev. Carter is married to Melisa Rooks Carter, and they have been blessed with three children, Jerry M. III, Zachary Daniel, and Camille Ashley.
