"EVERY Life Is Worth Touching."
|
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction so
that we may be able to comfort those who are in ANY affliction with the comfort with which
we ourselves are comforted by God" II Corinthians 1:3-4 (RSV)
In the spirit of II Corinthians 1: 3-4 and in obedience to Jesus' example of touching
those who are hurting, the mission of the Touch Ministry is to serve as a channel through
which God's compassion, healing, love and comfort can flow to the brokenhearted, captive
and bruised who are living with HIV/AIDS as well as to those who are the family members,
friends and caregivers of individuals with HIV/AIDS. We also seek to educate youth, adults
and seasoned citizens within our congregation as well as within our community about
HIV/AIDS so as to continually heighten the awareness of as well as to prevent the spread
of HIV/AIDS as we believe "Knowledge Is Power" and knowledge empowers us to make
wise decisions.
Touch Ministry works through several programs:
Counseling and Prayer - Confidential
one-on-one Christian counseling as well as prayer
Information Meetings - Learning the facts
about HIV/AIDS (testing, transmission, prevention, treatment, etc.) through open forums
Inreach and Outreach Services - Linking
directly with those in our congregation and community who are impacted by HIV/AIDS
